DeHaan Services

DeHaan Services is my main business site, with the most complete information about the services I offer.

The services I offer include:

  • Custom copy writing for small or large businesses: web content, sales letters, blogs or other custom writing.
  • Fitness Coaching for individuals or groups, with a focus on endurance training rather than speed or strength.
  • Weight control techniques for a trimmer body: also for individuals or groups.
  • Manual (rather than automated) Quality Assurance for I.T. departments: mainframe, client/server and web-based.

Links to a Few Specific Articles on the DeHaan Services Site

The 2012 Becel Ride for Heart in Toronto” promotes this annual fund raising event for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. It’s also a great opportunity to ride a bicycle on the Don Valley Parkway and Gardiner Expressway. See the article for the date and for registration links.

An interesting event that receives far too little publicity is Doors Open Toronto. My “Three Themes for Doors Open Toronto 2012” suggests three concepts to help you decide which buildings to explore.

The Toronto 2012 St. Patricks Day Parade Will March on March 11” announced details for the parade. The need for this article became apparent when I realized that I had missed the details while watching an entertaining commercial.

Some Earlier Articles in DeHaan Services

My previous public service announcement, “Plan to Attend the 2012 Levee at Toronto City Hall“, fills an information gap since City Hall did not make it very easy to find the date or time for the annual New Year’s Levée.

We are extremely unlikely to see the above mascots at Toronto City Hall for the 2012 New Year’s Levée, unfortunately. However, my article does include a brief mention of the person who first instituted the “Levée” custom.

On Dec. 17, 2011, I wrote “Quiet Pride in Physics Breakthrough at University of Toronto” as a Toronto “event”. Physics World had recognized their “top physics breakthrough of the year” for bending Heisenberg’s Uncertainty Principle. Steinberg’s team found a way to measure the position of photons without disturbing the interference pattern as shown in double slit experiments. The image below is not from the UofT lab, but does show wave-like interference.

In Oct. 2011, I wrote a pair of articles about the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon, largely due to the fitness angle. May I recommend “Records and Relays Before the 2011 Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon” for the inspirational story of 100-year-old Fauja Singh who credits running with keeping him alive. And he sets track records the way most of us buy Timbits.

That month I also wrote “Prepare for the 2012 Toronto Triathlon Event“, because triathletes need to know “which distance does the 2012 Toronto ‘Ironman 5150 Triathlon’ cover”? On Jan. 31, 2012, I followed up with “To Untangle Two Toronto Triathlons in 2012“. On April 7, 2012, I updated both of the above because I found the web sites permitting me to explain “How to Sign Up for the 2012 Olympic Distance Toronto Triathlon“.

Although I often post a blog note promoting my most recent online article, I want to draw attention in Dec. 2011 to “Anticipating Christmas and Kwanzaa 2011” which promotes seven seasonal articles.
